Thanks for the link. I continue to be troubled when I read that a city as cool as Winnipeg continues to have trouble with its downtown. I live in downtown Fargo and thankfully they have learned a LOT and are doing things right now. It’s a great mix of residential, university, arts, business/entertainment…even some of the old services to the down and out are still right there in the middle of it. Quite an eclectic mix, and I love it. I live AND work there.

Trish: Thanks for your comments. I’ve heard that downtown Fargo has made quite a few changes for the better in recent years. Hopefully Winnipeg will eventually follow Fargo’s lead. A mix of residential, university arts and business/entertainment really is the way to go.

I am glad I found you today via Cherenkov’s blog…informative and a great way to spend a Sunday – filling up my mind with useful information and remembering other bits as well.

Would you be able to do a follow-up on the “a Y in every neighbourhood” article you did a while back? I want to know if the Y is planning development of any Transcona or Waverly locations.

I’ll post an update if I hear anything. As far as I know, they’re moving ahead with their Waverley West plans.

  7. I want notifications of new posts, and I can’t see any way to get them other than to leave a reply.

Hi Christopher: There should be RSS feed links for “Posts” and “Comments” on the upper right-hand side of the main page at https://theviewfromseven.wordpress.com/ and, on most browsers, a “Follow” link on the lower right hand side. Hope this helps, and thanks for your interest!
